“Keep an eye out for the aforementioned good looking pilot, as he demonstrates the professionalism required by Navair for all our pilots and aircraft, from the piston twins, to the private jets and everything in between.”
When it came time to show General Aviation pilots the expected standard of a professional air charter operation, Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) have chosen Navair to set the benchmark!
To keep a close watch on Australian Air Charter operators, CASA perform regular checks on pilots and aircraft as they arrive or depart airports around the country. Not only checking for pilot qualifications and maintenance, the checks ensure pilot medicals are current, loading of aircraft is done correctly and that the flights fuel requirements have been met (flights are required to carry a set amount of extra fuel for weather, holding and unforeseen circumstances). Called a ‘Ramp Check’, and often previously feared by pilots who were unsure of their requirements, CASA are working to alleviate pilots concerns by showing them what a Ramp Check with a professional aviation company should look like!
During a routine Ramp Check of the Navair Hangar in Bankstown, NSW, The Civil Aviation Safety Authority brought along a camera crew to take advantage of Skypac’s diverse fleet of twin engine piston aircraft and business jets; as well as our good looking pilots! As they explain how the process works, they offer a great tour of the hangar and aircraft, including the Piper Chieftain, Cessna Citation Mustang and Piper Aerostar.
“We do physically check the aircraft, after we’ve checked the maintenance and documentation, the usual process would be we’ll do a walk-around of the aircraft. Similar to a daily inspection.” Tells Paul Simpson, CASA’s Certificate Management Team Leader, as the camera follows another CASA ramp agent around one of Navair’s twin engine charter aircraft, a Piper Chieftain.
Keep an eye out for the aforementioned good looking pilot, as he demonstrates the professionalism required by Navair for all our pilots and aircraft, from the piston twins, to the private jets and everything in between.
