Situated in the northern section of the Cradle Mt – Lake St Clair National Park, Cradle Mountain is one of the principal tourist sites in Tasmania. Rising to 1,545 metres above sea level, the mountain is composed of jagged dolerite columns and peaks surrounded by beautiful glacial lakes, lush rainforest and grassland.

Drawing thousands of visitors every year, Cradle Mountain is one of Tasmanias most recognisable landmarks. Many different walking trails can be accessed throughout the area. One of the most popular treks, the Overland Track takes in beautiful waterfalls, ancient rainforests, streams, plunging gorges, open moorlands, and magnificent views of Cradle Mountain itself. Trails to the summit of Cradle Mountain are also very popular, however the breathtaking view across Dove Lake to Cradle Mountain is a must see, and one of Tasmanias natural highlights.
