A Day Trip to the Wineries – Mudgee

Looking for an unforgettable weekend away? Look no further than a 15 minute flight from Sydney, where the wine is world class and the food rivals the best of Melbourne, with a touch of country flair. We spend a couple of days in Mudgee this week as part of a donated flight to charity, and can’t wait to go back!

Short flights like this are an ideal way to create a truly memorable experience for a few friends or loved ones. Remember that time we took a private jet to the wineries? We do! Departing from Bankstown Airport, the trip starts with your vehicle driving right inside the hangar where a private jet awaits. There’s a glass of champagne waiting inside the lounge, while our pilots load your bags on board and prepare for takeoff.

The flight is a quick one, only 20 minutes later and we’ll be walking across the tarmac in Mudgee to a waiting limo. It’s off to your choice of wineries for a bit of wine tasting and perhaps some cheese? A round of golf? We’ll help you create the perfect weekend, and if you need a little inspiration, here’s a few of our highlights!

Dinner and drinks at Alby & Esthers

Tucked away down a alleyway build in the 1800’s, Alby & Esthers is an absolute standout place for some local food, or a few drinks in Mudgee. The group behind the incredible service there, say they’re “an eclectic mix of passionate individuals who all share the same core values – A Warm welcome, A lasting impression and a passion for ‘different’…” We think that fits the bill perfectly, and love the locally inspired menu, seating which flows out into the courtyard and private dining room full of artwork. Staff are attentive, well versed in their menu and more than happy to recommend the perfect wine paring to your meal. Don’t miss it! (Seriously, they’re down an alleyway, you might walk right past!)

Wine Tasting and Cellar Door Wine Deals!

You can’t go for a trip to Mudgee without tasting a few of the local drops. The region is FAMOUS for its incredible wine growers, who open up their cellars and invite you to taste their offerings, paired with some incredible cheeses and in many cases local produce for lunch. Our pilots have been lucky enough to tour the area many times, so we’ll take you around the best of the best wineries in the Hunter Valley. While we’re there, cellar door pricing in Mudgee is incredible cheap, with wines you’ll see for $100 a bottle here in Sydney, as cheap as $20 from the cellar door. Pick up a few boxes of your favourites, and bring them home! (There’s always room on board our jets for wine)

Spend a night in the Evanslea Loft

One of the most popular venues in Mudgee for weddings, Evanslea also has a couple of little houses hidden away and perfect for a romantic evening. Our favourite is the Loft, perfect for one night with ultra-modern styling and breathtaking views down the valley. For longer stays, Evanslea House is a stunning example of an estate style house, with the perfect blend of classic, and modern styling throughout. We’re happy to stay overnight in Mudgee for minimal extra cost, and for longer stays of 2 nights or more, we’ll just fly back to pick you up when you’re ready. No rush!

Play 18 holes at the Mudgee Golf Course

Golf Digest describe it as ‘sneaky good’, and we’ve played enough golf at Mudgee to know that it’s one of the best kept secrets in NSW. This course will challenge all skills levels of golfer, and despite it’s flat layout, those towering trees and blind corners will test your accuracy. The views are spectacular, and the 19th hole (the clubhouse) is brand new! They’ve just had an architecturally designed clubhouse built with restaurant, bar and fully stocked pro shop. The best bit? $36 green fees for visitors!

Flights to Mudgee from Sydney or Brisbane

Our Cessna Citation Mustang is the perfect aircraft for 2, or 4; or for larger groups – our King Air 200 offers the same experience for 6.

Give the Navair team a call to plan a quick (or extended) getaway to Mudgee from either Brisbane or Sydney. We’d love to have you on board!
